We are in Sweden!

We arrived in Sweden early Thursday morning after a fantastic flight on Scandinavian Airlines.  Our apartment is wonderful and located in a good neighborhood fairly close to downtown - 10 min walk or 5 min bike ride.  We're quickly making ourselves at home in it.

Yesterday we went with Tyson's advisor's wife and two kids to IKEA where we bought a lot of things.  I changed my mind at the last minute and decided not to ship any kitchen things from the US, so IKEA was very happy to see us coming  =)  Our kitchen table, chairs, and bed arrived this afternoon.  We also got cell phones and internet today, which certainly makes us feel more normal.  It's so hard to communicate or find out any sort of information without internet, particularly when everything's written in a unfamiliar language, but now we can look up things at the grocery store on our phones!

We also purchased our bicycles yesterday.  Tyson thinks mine is European looking, but I think it's cute and comfortable.  We took them to the grocery store tonight and even shopped with the removable baskets from the bike.

Our two humorous stories thus far involve food.  Yesterday we ate lunch in the IKEA cafe.  Tyson informed the server that he wanted Swedish meatballs.  The guy looked at him, smiled, and said, "Yes, these are Swedish meatballs."  Yesterday we also grocery shopped for the first time - an experience in and of itself - but we bought some milk.  All was well and good until I discovered this morning as I went to cook the oatmeal that it was buttermilk, not regular milk.  Needless to say, we'll be having pancakes and biscuits in the next few days  =)
