We attended our first movie in Sweden this weekend. We found ourselves in a small theater - both in terms of the numbers of seat (about 85) and the amount of space we had to sit (which wasn't much). We knew that foreign films were shown in their original language with Swedish subtitles, so we weren't concerned about understanding the film. Like in the US, there are commercials and previews, most of which were in Swedish, but that's no great loss. We enjoyed Sherlock Holmes 2: A Game of Shadows a lot, and found it especially gratifying to be able to match some what was being said with the subtitles.
We are in our 2nd unit of SFI (Swedish for Immigrants) class now and it seemed like we jumped from kindergarten to 3rd grade this past week. The new class includes students who are re-taking/reviewing the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th units, which are bundled together. It's a bit intimidating, but we're glad for the new vocabulary of shopping, clothing, and food which will hopefully make things more understandable when we're out and about in Sweden.
Vi ses nästa helg!
