The Flowers are Blooming in Uppsala!

June marks the beginning of our 10th month in Sweden, and I must say, May was the prettiest month yet.  Aside from the bountiful daylight, the spring showers, days of gorgeous sunshine, the return of green grass and leaves, and the blooming of blossoms and flowers makes Sweden a much more enjoyable place to live!  Right now, the lilacs - which are everywhere - smell amazing and everyone is taking advantage of the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors.

Last weekend we attended the Carnival of Cultures parade.  It consisted of numerous dance troops in Uppsala displaying their culture's specific dances.  We miss dancing, so it was nice to see so many enjoying the activity.

Wednesday evening, Tyson participated in his first race in Sweden.  The Blodomloppet race
benefits the local hospital and has grown over the last 3 years from 300 to 12,000 participants.  It was quite amazing to see so many people running for a good cause.  Typically, Tyson chooses a shirt color that will stand out so I can get a good picture - usually in the US, red or orange does the trick.  However, I very quickly discovered that Swedes embrace colorful running shirts much more than Americans, and I was only able to find Tyson amongst the crowds because of his Nike hat - not too many people wear hats here.  See if you can find him in the first two pictures.  The last one is just to demonstrate the colorful running attire.
