We had three goals for our summer visitors. First, they would have a positive first European vacation, including good flights. Second, they would understand and experience some of the differences between life in the US and life in Sweden. And last, they would feel more at ease about us living in Sweden. Thankfully, I think we were successful on all counts. We're very grateful for our parents' willingness to not only visit us in Sweden (hopefully not for the last time), but also their support of our decision to spend a few years living abroad. Though we suspect their future visits might be influenced by the upcoming arrival of their grandchild ;-)
Julie's parents visited for 10 days earlier in July. We spent a day in Stockholm, many days taking in the sights around Uppsala, and also ventured to southern Sweden to explore the Setterdahl ancestry. While in the Sätra area, we stopped at a farm house which was coincidentally where the Setterdahls had lived. The lovely lady living there currently had not only restored the old Setterdahl home like a museum, but had also researched the families of area. She shared a wealth of information, including a copy of the deed to the farm. The icing on the cake of our visit with her was learning that my grandparents had also visited with her during their trip to Sweden in the early 80s, once again proving it's a small world after all.

Pictures of all our summer visitors are available through this link. Enjoy! And if you're planning on visiting next year, be sure to book ahead. We've had many express interest and Chateau Shepherd operates on a first-come first-serve basis ;-)
